I love ramen, sci fi movies, and open-world video games.
Hi, I’m Rena Greene. I’m a UX Designer with a background in graphic design and before that, I was a professional chef. My approach to design is rooted in a principle I learned in the kitchen: mise en place. Everything in its place. Before you light the stove, you prep, you plan, you refine. That mindset stuck with me.
In design, just like in cooking, creativity thrives on thoughtful preparation. I started in agencies, honing visual skills and picking up every tool I could get my hands on. But over time, I felt the cracks in the process; rushing work out without the prep, skipping the why behind the what. That’s when I discovered UX.
User experience gave me a place to blend creativity with systems thinking. Research, define, build, test, iterate—mise en place, applied to human-centered problems. Today, I design with clarity, purpose, and a deep respect for process. I may not be plating dishes anymore, but I still chase the same goal: to create something that resonates, satisfies, and holds up under pressure.
Now, I’m turning that focus toward impact, especially in accessibility and inclusive design. I want to build tools that empower, not exclude. I care about helping people feel seen, supported, and able to act, because good design shouldn’t just be beautiful or efficient. It should be humane. That’s the next move for me: using design to make real things better for real people.
